We caught up with Lydia to find out more about her beauty style and discuss the launch of the limited-edition LYDIA MILLEN GLOW EDIT.
1. How would you describe your beauty style?
I would describe my beauty style as natural and fun. I love to experiment with new products, textures, formulas and colours but I also like to always have the natural essence of who I am and how I look at the forefront. I’m naturally drawn to sheer, glowy and radiant textures and love the enhancement of skin through the use of beautiful products which is probably why I love BY TERRY so much because all their products are so versatile that no matter how I’m feeling I can tailor make an entire look to suit the parts of my face I want to enhance that day.
2. It’s no secret that you’re a lifelong fan of the Brightening CC Serum. How did you first discover it and what made you fall in love with it?
I discovered the BY TERRY CC serum in my early years as a blogger and it’s safe to say I’ve probably worn it every single day since that time whether it’s under make-up or on its own it’s the perfect natural skin enhancer whether you love a full coverage foundation or none at all. I’ve always described it as my 8hours of sleep in a bottle because it doesn’t matter how late I went to bet, or how badly I slept, a layer of BY TERRY CC Serum in shade Sunny flash instantly gives me the glow of a person who gets 8 hours sleep, drinks 8 glasses and eats 5 portions of veg a day. It’s a healthy, natural and beautiful glow for every occasion.
3. Tell us about your exclusive BY TERRY LYDIA MILLEN GLOW EDIT – which products are included in the edit and how did you choose which to include?
The product selection was a no brainer for me, I love the idea of an Edit that pretty much does it all from colour correcting to illuminating and being able to put together the CC Serum with 2 shades of the most beautiful BY TERRY Blushes, my favourite BY TERRY Highlight and an essential BY TERRY universal bronzer all in one palette, it really is everything you need for beautiful and natural looking radiant skin this Spring/Summer.
4. What are your top tips for applying the CC Serum to create a natural glow?
My favourite style of make-up base consists of one generous layer of BY TERRY CC serum in shade sunny flash, use two layers for extra coverage, and the most minimal application of concealer for any imperfections. That’s it! It creates the most Luminous sun kissed finish whilst also blurring skin texture, colour correcting tone and enhancing the over-all look of the skin. It’s the perfect base for the Brightening CC palette in Beach Bomb to add a bit of colour and depth to whilst making the highest points of the face really pop!
5. Our new Illuminating CC Palette in Beach Bomb is a really beautiful summer harmony of blushes and bronzers – how do you like to use the different shades?
I always go in with the bronzing shade first, I use this in a horse shoe shape around my hairline and hollows of my cheeks and across the bridge of my nose to add definition for an everyday sun kissed look. But it also doubles beautifully as an eyeshadow which really makes eyes pop! Next I add the blush, I’m definitely more of a coral blush lover in Summer but for winter I opt for pinkier tones so this Palette really can take you through all year round thanks to the options of both and again, both colours can also work beautifully as eyeshadows. And finally the highlight can be used on the highest points of the face and also makes a beautiful transition colour for the inner corner of the eyes too.
6. We’d love to know what your top 5 BY TERRY beauty picks are and what you love about them.
No1. It would be wrong to start with anything other than BY TERRY CC Serum in sunny flash Obviously, it’s such a beautiful product that can be used in so many different ways to enhance the skin.
No.2 Both my husband and I find ourselves fighting over whose pot is whose of the BY TERRY Baume De Rose more often than we care to admit but it really is a staple in our house. You’ll likely find a pot in most draws and baskets so they are on hand for when we need it. But I also always have a pot in my make up bag, whether it’s the perfect base for lipstick or used to give the highest points of the face, a little extra dew or even as a glossy lid look for summer. It really is the most versatile beauty product around.
No.3 The Hyaluronic Hydra concealer is the perfect partner in crime for the CC serum and CC palette if you require a little extra coverage in certain areas, I use a mixture of shade 100 for under the eyes and 400 for a little extra coverage if needed, it doesn’t crease, its beautiful as light coverage so you will still have a lovely natural looking base.
No.4 I wore it on my wedding day and I still wear it today but I couldn’t not mention Terrybly Velvet rouge lipstick in shade Lady bare it really is the most flattering blush shade that works well all year round and it’s super comfortable and non-drying.
No.5 And of course to finish with a spritz of the Baume De Rose Beauty toner (which I decant into a spray bottle myself) for beautiful, hydrated and refreshed skin.
